Placing and sizing the QR code correctly
Updated August 19, 2026Keep the printed code at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) square. Phone cameras need enough resolution to read the pattern from a normal arm’s-length distance — smaller codes force clients to zoom in, which defeats the point.
Place it next to the amount due and payment instructions, not buried in a footer. Clients scan right after they see the total — the code should be the next thing their eyes land on.
Yes. Scan it yourself with a second phone before sending. A broken or expired payment link behind a QR code is worse than no QR code — the client has already committed to paying and now can’t.
No — the same PNG works for both. For emailed PDFs, keep the code at least 150x150 pixels on screen so it stays scannable when the recipient views the PDF at less than 100% zoom.
